It all started in the summer of 2007, when the best friend of a late relative called saying he knew a reputable breeder in Colorado that had 2 dark red goldens and each was about to have a litter of pups that August from his red golden male. He shared the gentleman's contact information and no time was wasted in calling to arrange placing a deposit for a puppy, as a surprise gift to Riley. We were no strangers to the breed, with relatives that have had them over the years. After some debate and advice from our family friend, Cal, I chose for Riley to have the second pick of the females from the first litter of "Nikki" (Cassidy's Nichole Rocheux) and "Chesty" (Chester Du Semper Fi). Trying to keep it a secret for riley and surprise him was the most challenging part, especially when i dragged him from our home in Central Wyoming all the way to Salida, Colorado on a mystery trip. talk about a trust exercise! But, he was blown away when he found out we were going to pick up a 7 week-old golden girl pup of his choosing, with direct bloodlines going back to his late brother's golden, "Flash o' sun". In all actuality, "Hope" picked riley as she was the only pup in the litter who wouldn't leave him alone while we were there. Ever since then, the bond between them has been strong and never faltered, and they had been inseparable hunting partners for Nearly 14 years, as she passed on just 2 weeks after her 14th birthday. "Cassidy's Flash Of HOpe" stole all of our hearts as she grew up to become an amazing hunting dog, family dog, traveling buddy, and truly man's best friend. She has been an irreplaceable, once in a lifetime dog, and she has inspired such a love and admiration of red field golden retrievers. With some encouragement from her breeder, MR. phil Mikkelson, we have prayerfully decided to continue her lineage, maintain, and "Hope"fully improve upon the breed's best qualities.
